My Approach
Real therapy isn't about giving you advice or teaching you some secret you don't know. We live in an age where it's never been easier to get info or advice on a particular issue online. A quick google search will give you multiple resources for how to deal with whatever you're struggling with, and many of those resources are good! The problem many face is that they know what they should do, but they still struggle to do it. This often means there's a deeper, emotional reason for why you're struggling.
This is what I focus on and help my patients identify. Good therapy helps you uncover what's holding you back and helps you make sense of it.
After I support you in gaining insight into why it is you're struggling with what brought you to therapy, I will then support you in taking practical, research-based steps to make the changes you want. I will discuss different treatment options with you based on your particular issue, and you can decide what you think would be the right fit for you.
Areas of focus:
Trauma & PTSD
Evidence-based treatment for those feeling stuck or overwhelmed by survival responses. Using EMDR, we safely process distressing memories to help you find a sense of calm and control in the present.
ADHD & Autism
Specialized neurodivergent support for adults and teens. As a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, I provide tailored treatment based on the needs of the individual.
Couples
Support for couples who feel stuck in patterns of miscommunication, tension, and unresolved conflict that's focused on practical tools you can start using right away.
Men's Mental Health
Insight for men struggling with motivation, achievement, anger, explosiveness, and difficulty with romantic relationships.
A strong therapeutic relationship
a safe, collaborative connection where you feel understood and respected. It's important that you feel comfortable with your therapist.
All effective therapy includes three essential elements:
Evidence-based treatment
Practical, research-supported approaches that help fill in knowledge gaps and offer new ways of responding to the challenges you’re facing.
Space to process difficult emotions
including working through hard experiences, making sense of your reactions, and sometimes simply having a place to vent.
